From the Beginning

In April of 1996, a group of people started something brand new. They were tired of the way things had always been, and wanted to be a part of something that helped people discover who Jesus truly was without the barriers of religion and tradition. As they discussed what they would call it, they were drawn to this: By calling this covenant “new,” he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and outdated will soon disappear. From there, New Covenant Church was born.  Now, a little over 21 years later, something “new” is beginning again.

I was listening to another pastor last week discuss staying relevant and he mentioned companies in the business world like Kodak and Blockbuster.  They were once some of the most successful companies and now they are nothing. At one time, these companies were “new,” but they became obsolete. They were unable to adapt and change to stay relevant in an ever changing culture. Often times businesses and churches begin having success and continue doing the same thing because it is working without ever trying to figure out why it is working.  We usually only look into changing something if it is not working, but often times it is then too late.

Over the last year, God has blessed New Covenant Church in a way that I never dreamed possible. But then again, He is able to do immeasurably more than we can ever ask or imagine. Due to God’s favor on our church, we have the opportunity to begin offering 2 worship services each Sunday to accommodate for our growth.  We will begin offering 2 identical worship services on September 17th, 2017. The new service times will be at 9:15am and 11:00am.  God is moving, and I am just glad I get to be a part of it.
